Spitfire Hangar at Brabazon is proud to announce the launch of a new community food donation point, reinforcing our commitment to supporting local people and strengthening connections across the Brabazon neighbourhood and beyond.

From this week, visitors to Spitfire Hangar can donate essential food and household items, which will be collected and delivered to the North Bristol and South Gloucester Food Bank. The initiative forms part of the venue’s wider mission to create meaningful, practical support for the community it serves.

Supporting Local People, Together

Spitfire Hangar exists to benefit the local community by providing health and recreational facilities, alongside welcoming spaces for people of all ages to come together and connect.

The introduction of a food donation point is a natural extension of this work - helping to address real and immediate needs while giving visitors an easy way to make a positive difference.

North Bristol and South Gloucester Food Bank has highlighted an urgent need for the following items – refer to their website for the latest list:

  • Cereal
  • Deodorant
  • Laundry detergent
  • Washing up liquid
  • Sanitary pads
  • Tinned fruit
  • Desserts
  • Tinned halal meat

Donations can be dropped off at Spitfire Hangar during weekday opening hours, with all items being delivered to the food bank once a month.

More Than a Venue

Set within a beautifully restored Grade II-listed building, Spitfire Hangar combines heritage with purpose. While the venue is known for its event spaces and distinctive atmosphere, its role as a community hub is at the heart of everything it does.

Beyond this, we provide a range of initiatives designed to support wellbeing, inclusion, and everyday needs:

  • Community Coffee Mornings: creating opportunities to socialise and build local connections. Every Monday 10am – 12pm.
  • Toy and Book Exchange: encouraging sharing and reuse among visitors
  • Free period products: available in all toilets
  • ‘Can’t Wait’ toilet access: ensuring facilities are available to those who urgently need them
  • Homework Club: a space with desks and free Wi-Fi for parents and children. Every Monday 3-5pm
  • Craft Corner: a free drop‑in session offering creative activities including colouring and simple crafts. Every Friday 10am-12pm.

The venue is also soon to begin hosting youth services delivered by FACE, further solidifying our role as a safe, inclusive space for younger generations.

How You Can Help

Visitors are warmly encouraged to contribute to the food collection when they visit Spitfire Hangar - whether dropping in for a coffee, attending an event, or simply passing through.

Every donation, no matter how small, will help support individuals and families across North Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
